Tonia & Artem Duo

Tonia and Artem are a natural horn and fortepiano duo created in Amsterdam in 2014. In their exciting performances they explore the repertoire of the late 18th and 19th centuries. Combining research of historical performance practices and their passion for the repertoire, together they revive the sonority and spirit of this fresh and rarely performed repertoire.

They perform programs of great variety ranging from larger works in sonata form to salon pieces which were growing in popularity in the 19th. Natural horn and historical piano allow for nuances, shadings of color, clarity and charm which are essential to the music of the time. Together they create a sound that suits the music and lets it come alive in a way that would be impossible on modern instruments.
